How to use Iphone 6






1. Keyboard



The iPhone has a built in virtual keyboard which you use to input text intoyour device when necessary. It is more convenient than a full keyboard andhas many shortcuts that make typing easier. It is accessed by tapping any field that you need to type in, the keyboard will automatically appear.


2.  USB Cable



The USB Cable is used to connect the phone to the computer, to be able to transfer data between two devices. It also serves as a charger that provides electricity to the phone when connected to the PC. The phone also comes with a USB power adaptor to charge it from a normal electrical outlet.


3.  Phone App



The phone app is the area of the phone that is used to make and receive phone calls on the iPhone. This has features that allow you to conveniently manage the incoming and outgoing calls. To access the phone app, you should look for the icon that is similar to that of a phone’s handset and tap
it.


4.  Contacts



To manage contacts, the user must tap the contacts from the main screen and this will take you to the contacts list. You can scroll through your complete contact list to view who you need to or if you need to add someone new you can tap the “+” located in the corner to add a new contact. You will be provided with the necessary fields to fill out and an area to provide pictures if you have one for the contact. Once you are finished, click save.


5.  Handoff



Handoff is feature that provides the means for continuity to take place. This is the function of being able to start a task on one device and continue it on the next device smoothly. You will need to have one of the latest versions (after 2012) Apple devices that support the feature. To enable the feature
you can go to Settings->General->Handoff then tap the Handoff switch to turn it on.


6.  Messages



The iPhone 6 stores every message that you receive on the phone indefinitely. This simply means that after sometime the app will be taking up a lot of space on the device. Eventually you will run out of space, so you cannot store any more apps or data. With the iPhone 6 you can set the device to automatically delete the messages after 30 days or a year. To utilize this feature select Settings->Messages->Keep Messages.


7.  Record an audio message



For some persons, they prefer to record an audio message than manually typing one. This may be the case if your hands are not free and want to send the message quickly. To instantly send a message, tap and hold the microphone button which is located beside the field where you would enter text. To send the recording you can slide your finger upwards and it will go out to the receiver.


8.  Desktop View of Websites


Mobile websites are specifically designed to be viewed conveniently on mobile phones. This is done to ensure that the users of the site will experience the site similarly as if they were using a computer to view it. Usually they can access all content but sometimes a small amount of content may not be available on the mobile version. If you need to view the full desktop site while surfing the web, the Safari browser will give you the option to view the desktop version. To open Safari tap Safari->Tap the Address bar->Swipe the panel down->Request Desktop Site.


9.  Adding Signatures to Emails



Most persons like to add a signature to their email to make it more personalized. Instead of having a default message at the bottom some persons like to add their flair and style to the message to make it unique. It is a helpful way to leave your contact information on a message without having to type it each time. This can be accessed by going to Settings-> Mail, Contacts, Calendars->Signature->All Accounts/Per Account.


10.  Undo Typing


Many times users are typing on their phone and make a mistake in what you have typed. You may undo the typing by rigorously shaking the phone and a prompt will appear to undo typing. Tap the blue undo text and the typed text will disappear. It is important to note that this works in
Whatsapp, Twitter but not Facebook.

11.  Camera


The camera is one of the amazing features of the iPhone 6. It is used to snap photos and record videos and works closely with the photo application. You can view and manage all your media content to have them organized how you need. To access, tap Camera from the home screen.

12.  Panoramic Photos


Sometimes when taking a photo, a regular size just will not capture all of the moments you need to capture. This feature enables you to take wider shots that capture a lot more of the scene you are trying to snap. Therefore you will be able to take a wide continuous photo. To enable this tap Camera->Swipe the text next to the camera button until “Pano” is displayed. This will enable panoramic mode and you can tap the Camera button at the bottom of the screen to start capturing the shot and pan the phone to the right to capture the complete shot.

13.  Creating a new album in photos



Once the photo app on the device is open you will see a blue button at the bottom of the screen called Albums and you will see the separate albums that are on the phone. To add a new album, tap the blue icon at the bottom and the phone will ask you for the name of the new album.

14.  Enhance Images


Sometimes a photo is taken but it may not have been in the best conditions and needs some improvements. On the iPhone 6 you are capable of making edits and enhancements that may improve the pictures. To do this you can open the photos app and then select the image you need to edit. The top corner of the screen will contain blue text that reads edit, tap it and you will see buttons at the bottom of the screen with the different editing options.


15.  How to mirror your iPhone screen on an Apple TV



Some users may have the need to mirror their screen of the iPhone to the TV Screen for viewing. To be able to do this you will need to have an Apple TV that is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the phone. The control center on the phone must be open by swiping upwards from the bottom screen. Once that is open then an Airplay option will be enabled on the screen, tap it then tap Apple TV. Then you can toggle the switch on or off.

16.  Wi-Fi



Connecting to a Wi-Fi network may seem like a simple task to some persons but it may not be so easy for others. Most times we will need to have a connection to the internet to access our favourite sites and our online data. This is how it is done. Tap Settings->Tap the Wi-Fi Button-> Tap the toggle button to turn it on and select the network you would like to connect to. If it requires a network key it will prompt you to enter it and tap join.


17.  Game Center



The iPhone has many apps you can be downloaded to the device and this includes millions of games. There is an average of 80-100 releases of new games per day, which is an amazing amount. The Apple Game Center is a source that was created to help users easily find gaming applications that interest them. To access it, tap the Game Center application which will open it and there will be many buttons on the screen for you to access what area you need.


18.  Doing a hard reset



Sometimes in using your phone device you may be required to do a hard reset if there is an error or it malfunctions. To do a hard reset you can hold down the power button and the home button for a couple of seconds until the screen powers down.


19.  iCloud Keychain



In the previous release of the iOS system a new way of storing passwords, usernames and other sensitive data has been developed. The storing of data is done in the cloud and it syncs the data across all devices to achieve consistency. To access it, please go to Settings->iCloud->iCloud Keychain. Once you login it will ask you all the relevant questions to get the app properly configured.


20.  Custom Vibrations



The iPhone device will vibrate when the phone is being notified of a message or is ringing. Some persons may not notice but there are different vibrations based on the type of alert that is being issued. You are allowed to do custom vibrations to be assigned to different contacts in order for you to recognize who is trying to reach you. To access the custom vibrations area Tap Contacts-> Select a contact -> Tap Edit -> Tap Vibration to customize.


21.  Custom Ringtones



Similar to custom vibrations, custom ringtones can be assigned to contacts and notifications for you to distinguish between all alerts easily. This makes it easy to identify what is happening on the device without directly looking at it. To access this feature Tap Contacts-> Select the contact you
need to assign a ringtone to -> Edit -> Ringtone.


22.  Twitter



Twitter is one of the largest social network application that are currently out there. With a subscriber base of approximately 300 million it is utilized by many iPhone users that would love to have access. To access Twitter on the device tap Settings-> Twitter which will allow you to access the applications. You may sign up for a new account or sign in to your existing account.


23.  FaceTime



FaceTime allows iPhone users to have access to family and friends anytime via a video chat. It offers clear and crisp video and audio for smooth communication. It is as easy as tapping of a finger to instantly connect to your contact and is very easy to use. To access FaceTime, go to Contacts-> Select the recipient -> tap the FaceTime button at the bottom of the screen.


24.  Music Playback



The music playback users experience on their iPhone is excellent with great audio, and as if they are in a live concert. Some users may be particular on the sound and may want to adjust their equalizer settings to achieve the perfect pitch for different genres of music. To access the music features you
may Tap Settings-> Tap Music you will see directly what settings are available to be adjusted.


25.  Facebook for iPhone



Facebook is the largest social network website currently in the world with 1 billion active users. Using Facebook for iPhone is the recommended way for users to access the network. The application is used to view the latest comments, photos and even chat to your friends all from your mobile phone. To access Facebook the app must be downloaded and the on screen instructions will guide on what to do.


26.  Find my friends



For some persons it is important to keep in touch with their friends and family and to keep track of them. Possibly they are meeting you and you need to find out where, you can use Find My Friends app to do that. Open the find my friend’s app and log in with your Apple ID and share your location if you desire. Your friends can share their location with you as well.


27.  Sending Messages



To access the messages areas of the iPhone tap the Messages app to get started. Then you tap a new message to access the screen to create a message screen to compose a new message.


28.  Do not disturb



The do not disturb feature can be utilized when you do not want a message or alert to disturb you while you are occupied doing something else. You may be in an important meeting and do not need to be distracted. The notifications can be muted by putting your phone onto Airplane mode so it
will not disturb you. To access this feature tap Settings-> Do not disturb and follow the on-screen instructions to get it set up.


29.  Mail features



There are many features that can be used to enhance your mailing options. Features such as attachments, videos, and photos can be added to messages to be sent across the mobile network. To share a particular file is to tap the share button while you are viewing the particular file you want to share.


30.  Photo Stream



This is a new way of saving and organizing photos on your iPhone device. It is an automatic feature that can upload every photo you take to be uploaded to the iCloud. Once it is shared on the iCloud it will be shared across all your Apple devices. To enable photo stream you should tap Settings-> iCloud -> Photo Stream then toggle on or off.


31.  Zooming



The iPhone is designed to be flexible to view text easily by users being able to zoom on the screen. Sometimes users may not be able to see the text as clearly as they need to, so there is a multi-touch gesture to zoom in onto the screen. To access this you can tap Settings-> General -> Accessibility -> Zoom. Again the settings can be adjusted based on needs at the time.


32.  Capturing Screen



Sometimes it is necessary to capture what is being displayed on the screen of your phone. It can be many random things such as a high score or some other important information that you desire to share. To do this, you can simultaneously press the home button and the sleep/wake button. This will
snap the screen and save the picture.


33.  Siri



Siri is an innovative technology that enables you to give speech commands to the iPhone. Many things such as conducting searches, getting directions and seeing ticker information can be done via Siri. To access the application the user must tap and hold the home button on the iPhone then you can say what you need the system to do.


34.  The App Store



The App Store is how you download and install new applications to the iPhone device. To access this, tap the App Store application and this takes you to a page where you can view different apps that are available. Users can also search to find applications based on their need.


35.  Settings



The settings of the phone allows for users to customize their device to function exactly how they need it to. The settings control the way the phone works and how it shares data between apps and other smart devices. You can access settings from the home screen.


36.  Wallpaper



This is one of the ways the iPhone can be customized to be unique to the user. The wallpaper can be set to whatever photo the user desires to decorate the phone as how they desire. This can be accessed by tapping Settings-> Wall papers and brightness. Here you will find all the customization options.


37.  Notifications



The notifications alert you to pending items on your phone such as messages, phone calls, emails and calendar events. The notification center is where all your notifications are stored and can be managed. Users have the options to organize their notifications in their preferred way to make it manageable based on their needs. To access the notification center the user just has to swipe down from the top of the screen.


38.  Calendar



The Calendar application is used to organize and keep your schedule recorded at all times. Users are enabled to properly manage their time with notes and reminders conveniently on a monthly view. You can conveniently store alerts for important events. These alerts will remind you at the particular time that was set for the event reminder. The calendar app is accessed from the home screen.


39.  Reminders



Reminders are a less complicated app compared to the Calendar app. This is basically a list that is maintained to remind the user of the various tasks that need to be done. There can be a time assigned to remind them of this note and will never let the user forget to do something ever again.


40.  Home Button



The home button is located on the bottom side of the screen of the device. This button provides a shortcut to always return to the home screen anywhere you are. It provides other shortcuts such as showing what applications are currently open when it is double clicked. For the models that have Touch ID enabled it can double as a fingerprint sensor.


41.  Volume Controls



The volume controls are used to control the current volume of the device. The buttons are located to the side of the phone and can control the volume of songs, movies while you are listening to them. Otherwise, the buttons are used to control the volume for the alerts, sound effects and ringers.


42.  Auto-lock



The iPhone by default auto-locks when not in use. This is usually done after about a minute or so. This can be adjusted by going to Settings-> General -> Auto-Lock.


43.  Apple ID



The Apple ID is a number that is linked to your Apple account and helps you to interact smoothly with all Apple resources. This includes the iCloud service. If you do not have an Apple ID you can create one when you are signing in to your Apple account.


44.  Purchases



Whether it is iTunes, the App Store or an iBook, you can always conveniently view the purchases that were made. Once you load the particular application you can always tap purchased in the relevant section of the app. This also works for families that have shared their content amongst themselves. You can turn on Automatic Downloads by going to Settings-> iTunes & App Stores.


45.  Date and Time



The date and time of the iPhone can be done automatically or it can be done manually. To do it automatically you can go to Settings-> General -> Date & Time -> Toggle Set Automatically on/off. If you desire to do it manually just toggle set automatically to off.


46.  Name of the iPhone



The iPhone can be assigned a name that will be used by iCloud and iTunes. This is how the services can different between your devices and allow better management. To access the name go to Settings-> General -> About -> Name.


47.  Hotspot



The iPhone can be used as a hotspot to provide internet to your other iOS 8 devices that are using the same Apple ID. There is a feature called instant hotspot which will be activated automatically without you having to enter a password or turning on a hotspot.


48.  Home screen



Sometimes a user may have configured the iPhone in some way that they are no longer satisfied with and want to change. They are allowed to reset the customization by going to Settings -> General -> Reset Home Screen Layout. This will return the home screen to its original layout including the
wallpaper.


49.  AirPrint



The iPhone has the ability to print wirelessly to an AirPrint-enabled printer on the same network as the device. You can print from apps such as mail, photos and Safari. To print a document you just need to tap the curved arrow icon or the box with the arrow pointing up. The icon you will see will be based on what app you are using.


50.  Restrictions



An iPhone user has the ability to set restrictions for some apps and purchased content. It can be used to restrict certain settings, prevent the installation of apps or changes to the account etc. These restrictions can be activated b going to Settings-> General -> Restrictions -> Enable
Restrictions. You will be asked to define a passcode that would need to be entered when regulating the restrictions.
